New Homeschool Bible Curriculum That The Whole Family Will Enjoy

“Ugh, this is so boring!” If you have homeschooled for at least one day, you have probably heard this from your kids before too. Usually, it doesn’t bother me, and I have found many ways around boring in my homeschool over the years. But, I hate to hear my children say that when it comes to the Bible. If there is any subject that I want my children to enjoy and linger in, it’s God’s Word.ย

It feels disrespectful to me to say that learning about the Bible is boring, and even worse to hear that my children think so. I know the feeling for them isn’t toward the Bible specifically, but let’s be honest – teaching Bible at home can be challenging. We have tried a lot of Bible studies over the years, from preschool to the teen years, and yes, some of them have lacked excitement. But, if we want our children to learn about God’s Word, shouldn’t the curriculum be extraordinary? It is God we are talking about here.ย

I want a homeschool Bible curriculum that reflects the magnitude and intensity that God deserves. One that gets my children pumped about God, and I bet as a Christian homeschool parent, you want that too.ย

I was recently introduced to a new homeschool Bible curriculum from Apologia called The Word in Motion, and it is far from boring. The Word in Motion is impressive, and interestingly, it is precisely what my action-packed boys needed to learn about God’s word in this season.ย

What is Different About this Homeschool Bible Curriculum?

The Word in Motion is new from Apologia. I know many of you, like us, have used Apologia before and love it. We have come to trust Apologia because it always delivers a solid homeschool curriculum, no matter what the subject. I think they have knocked it out of the park with The Word in Motion, and here are a few reasons why.ย

It’s Perfect for Wiggly Kids.ย

The Word in Motion is different from so many other homeschool Bible curriculum options out there. It appeals to us becauseย it’s not aย sit still curriculum. I have two very active boys close in age, so we don’t sit still often. We appreciate any curriculum that encourages movement when learning. With The Word in Motion, there are actual motions to learn that helps your children to recall what they are absorbing better. My kids love this approach; the added movement keeps them motivated to hear more and participate. If you have children that prefer some wiggle room, so to speak, they will enjoy Apologia’s The Word in Motion.ย

No Prep Time!

The Word in Motion has no teacher’s manual and includes no prep time. It isย as open and go as you can get for a complete homeschool Bible curriculum. As a long-time homeschool parent, I can appreciate the simplicity of that. The lesson plans are inside the notebooking journals and are easy enough to follow along each day that no preparation time is required beforehand.ย

It Works For All Learning Styles.ย

If you have multiple children with different learning styles, you can still use The Word in Motion as a family. Many of you know how much I adore family-style homeschooling, and with large age gaps between my kids, I am always grateful for a curriculum that can bring them all together around the same table. The Word in Motionย meets the needs of all learning styles, so whether your children are hands-on, visual, auditory, prefer text, or is verbal – they can all use this multi-sensory approach to learning about the Bible.ย

Is The Word in Motion Homeschool Curriculum Right for My Family?

  • The Word in Motion is for children grades K through 8th. We found this to be of great value to combine my elementary-aged boys to learn all about God’s Word!
  • If you haveย children who prefer movementย and learning techniques that keep them stimulated, this one is for you. I find that my kids are motivated and eager to learn more when they are enjoying themselves at the same time.ย
  • If your children haveย had an unpleasant experience with learning scripture in the past, this may be exactly what they need to reignite their passion for the Word. With engaging narratives and memorable Bible characters coming to life, my kids were thrilled to see what was next each day for us to learn about.ย
  • The Word in Motion’s homeschool Bible curriculum takes the intimidation out of teaching scripture. So,ย if you are reluctant to teach your kids the Bible because you think you aren’t qualified or fear ofย messing up, I promise you – this homeschool Bible curriculum is fool-proof!ย

What Does The Word in Motion Bible Curriculum Include?

The Word in Motion is versatile, so you have options! Don’t you love that? I know most homeschoolers do, including us.ย

The Word in Motion from Apologia offers both The Word in Motion: Old Testament and The Word in Motion: New Testament. (It is recommended that you begin with the Old Testament, but not required.)

With both Old Testament and New Testament, you can add on MP3 Download/Audiobook. If you have a child who struggles with reading or is auditory, you might want to add this. It can also help you save time if you are teaching multiple children and need one to listen to the audiobook lessons while you tend to another student.ย

Also, with The Word in Motion’s Old Testament and New Testament, you can choose additional notebooking journals to add on. Each student will need their own notebooking journal to complete each day’s lesson.ย

Within the text and notebooking journals, you will find copywork that coincides with the memory verse, additional sidebar information to expand on, guided prayers to close each lesson, and character sketches to hear from the perspective of the Bible character you are learning about.

Once you receive your copy of The Word in Motion, you will also receive access to the engaging companion videos by author Rachael Carman. Rachael, along with her husband, are the owners of Apologia Educational Ministries. She does a phenomenal job of bringing these Bible stories to life with her energy and direct teaching approach. You can see some sample lessons here.ย
