This Is How We Celebrate With Homeschool Art

We have been homeschooling for over thirteen years now, and we have learned a thing or two. An essential aspect of homeschooling is fun. Yes, fun! Learning can be and should be enjoyable. So, we incorporate homeschool art into our days often to keep us all from going crazy.

Keeping things engaging and exciting helps us all. At least once or twice a month, we set up a celebration of sorts with art. We create a whole theme around a subject or holiday, add food, books, and resources to make an entire day of it.

Our holiday celebrations have become something my children look forward to. Luckily, we have an art curriculum that makes it easy for me to plan these creative sessions.

We can add homeschool art into a lesson to make it more interesting or blend art into any homeschool day so that my children can have a hands-on experience.

I have learned that by adding art into our homeschool lessons, we all benefit. Adding art occasionally keeps things from becoming mundane. Home education shouldn’t only be days filled with workbooks. My goal is to cultivate life-long learners, not children who despise education.

Teaching my children to love learning means we all need to have homeschool days and weeks we enjoy. So I think it is essential to have home educating resources that you can easily pull from to create celebrations, hands-on learning experiences, and enjoy learning together.

When I first began homeschooling, I focused on checking off each box of the curriculum we followed that I rarely planned in anything fun. I thought if it was fun, it wasn’t educational enough, I guess. But much of that was due to a public school mindset or lack of real knowledge about what home educating is or could be.

There are so many ways that you can incorporate art into your homeschool day, week, or month. Your kids will look forward to it and benefit from the creative expression!

Art is also a subject that can be done family-style. Even the youngest of students can participate in learning through art.

You don’t have to add art into your homeschool every day, but you could plan for fun Fridays, poetry tea time, or special holidays. Homeschool art is just as educational as all of the other subjects!
