New Gospel Tracts for Children Make Evangelism Astoundingly Easy
As a young girl, I saw a gospel tract or two or three. I grew up in a Christian home, and my family was always involved in the church. My grandfather played the church piano, my parents served in the church daycare, and I spent much of my early childhood hearing about the gospel.
If you can relate to any of that, you too may have seen or even handed out gospel tracts. Many of us today might remember the old gospel tracts as obnoxious, scary or even cheesy. The messages mean well, but for a religious tract to be effective, it needs to be inviting. It needs to give the recipient a reason to actually want to read it or cause them to want to find out more. Right?
I am here to tell you that the modern gospel tracts for children are not your grandparent’s gospel tracts! If you haven’t looked at a gospel tract for kids lately, you should.
I recently heard about Let The Little Children Come, and I was pleasantly surprised. So surprised that I wanted to share with all of you the new products that are available for children to help spread the gospel.
Learning how to share the gospel with others is vital to our purpose as Christians. It’s a huge part of why we are here and what we are supposed to do. Tell others about Jesus.
Some of the resources I want to share with you today will help your children learn to share the gospel and develop their own evangelism skills. These new resources are modern and engaging! I think kids can use these resources more naturally and feel comfortable sharing them too.
Anytime is a good time to talk about Jesus, but the holidays also bring us more opportunities to spread the news. And using the right tools can help us evangelize more effectively.
Modern and Engaging Gospel Tracts for Children
Each holiday presents its own unique opportunities to share about Jesus. Halloween is a fantastic chance to share how awesome Jesus is! Not to mention, it can be as simple as giving a special tract out for trick-or-treats.
These Is There Anything Better Than Candy? tracts are adorable! They have a clear and vibrant message that is hard to overlook. They are perfect for kids of any age to use and learn about Jesus.
Christmas is another perfect time of the year for sharing about Jesus. The True Story of Christmas tracts can help children share the story of the birth of Christ with ease.
Wordless Bracelets are also another cool way we can open up a dialogue with others about God. They are versatile enough that you can give them as a gift without having to say too much if your children are still new at sharing the gospel. Or you can use them with a church group, homeschool group, or as a fun group craft!
Just by wearing a Salvation Bracelet out in public, you can take advantage of the conversation opportunities. Strangers, friends, and new acquaintances will ask you what your bracelet means or signifies. You don’t have to do anything but answer their questions. Such a brilliant idea! I think these are great for teens, especially.
Another fantastic tool to use with even your own children at home are Wordless Books. They are extremely easy to use, and your children can benefit from learning about the message of salvation through Jesus Christ this way. These vibrant and tangible tools are perfect for visual learners.
All this to say, when you think of sharing gospel tracts, you might have had a bad experience in the past. You may think passing out tracts is only an act of pushy Christians. But, it doesn’t need to be done in a rude or overly pushy way. That can be off-putting and annoying.
If the ultimate goal is to pique the interest of your tract recipient, then you want to approach sharing gospel tracts positively. You can start simply and help your children learn the right way to share.
Tips for Sharing Gospel Tracts for Children
- Start Simple. Allow your children to witness you share the gospel a few times using the same resources they will use. Or practice with a family member or friend first at home before venturing out. Role-playing is a wonderful way to allow your kids to get some practice in and shake off any nerves they may have.
- Smile. Help your children to understand that when they share about Jesus, it goes a long way to smile and be inviting. God’s love should be displayed when we share with others about the gospel.
- Rejection. Yes, rejection is part of sharing his word. Not everyone wants to hear what you have to say, and they don’t have to. Teach your children that some people will be rude, not have time to listen, or be entirely against the idea of Christianity in any form. That’s ok. It’s not you; it is something that’s going on with them or inside them. We get an opportunity to exercise grace when it comes to dealing with other people. Tell your children that they are doing their best by trying, and that is all that matters to God.
- Group Up! Invite a small group of friends to go together to share tracts. Everything is always more fun with friends.
- No Fear. Sharing gospel tracts as a child can be intimidating for some. Don’t push your children if they are not comfortable yet. It can take time and practice before they feel ready. But once they get to experience the feeling of sharing Jesus with another person and witness that person decide to make a life-altering choice to follow God – they will be hooked on sharing the word. Joshua 1:9 is a wonderful verse to share with them beforehand.
- Make it Fun! Sharing God’s word doesn’t have to be solemn. Sincere yes, but gloomy and stern? No! God wants us to be joyful. He wants people to see an inner happiness when you share about him because you are grateful for all he has done for you. You can be sincere and still keep it joyful. So throw a gospel block party in your neighborhood, host a potluck, or caravan downtown with a group of friends. Sharing about Jesus can be fun!
Not sure how to get started with sharing the gospel? We began by just using all of these awesome resources at home. I first shared them with all of my children, then organically they became interested.
I didn’t push anything on them or force them to share anything right away. We used this Gospel Tracts and Evangelism Tools Sampler Pack to reinforce what my children should know well before we share with anyone else.
That’s a great place to begin – discussing, practicing, and reinforcing the gospel before sharing with others. Discuss how to share and role play until they are comfortable. Make sure your kids understand why we are called to share. Explain how these resources are tools to help us open the door to conversation and get others interested in what we want to share with them. We have good news!
I hope this gives you some creative ideas for how you can use gospel tracts with your kids. There are so many neat resources these days that it’s easy to do!
